December 2012

The early lunch group has decided to read The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler (2 excellent writers!) AND Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Asher. What do you think?

And the decision is.... (drum beat)....

Thank you all for joining in today at the meetings! It was fun to meet a few new people and to find out what people have been reading over the summer. Betsy, the Waunakee Public librarian, joined us as well. OK, OK, so what did we pick? The first lunch group chose _Every Day_ by David Levithan and the second lunch group chose _Everneath_, by Brodi Ashton. I will soon post some photos of us. The books are on order and there will be an announcement when they arrive. Happy reading!

Back to School!

We are back! The first meeting is today, Wednesday, September 19th, in the LMTC. Bring your lunch and join us. We have several lists of books this time around in addition to reviews from Booklist, School library Journal and YALSA. My guess will be either Every Day by David Levithan or How to Save a Life by Sara Zarr. It is exciting to meet the new students and staff members who stop in as each new mix of people creates a new dynamic for what we decide to read.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth

We started the year with Divergent, a book that everyone seemed to love, and we are ending the year with Insurgent--like two book ends. Most of the books have flown off the shelf, a good indication that this was a great choice. It will be interesting to see what everyone thinks. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, May 30th, an A day. If it is nice out, maybe we can have a picnic. In the meanwhile, feel free to post your thoughts on the book.

Wow! What a great group of student and teacher readers! It was fun to get together this week to talk about what we have been reading. There is a wide variety. Besides the list from starred reviews, there was mention of a book called The Passage by Justin Cronen and books (many of them) by Terry Pratchett. We chose to read two books by Jonathan Safran Fower: Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (Early Lunch) and Everything is Illuminated (late lunch). We are excited about both of these.

Happy New Year!

We are back! It is cold, a good time of year to curl up with a good book. What have you been reading lately? Some of us are reading through the Battle of the Books list (there are many good titles). We also had a number of suggestions at our last meeting (Thank you, Danielle and Mrs. Mobley). Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 1, during both lunches. Come with ideas about what we will read next.
